DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove resident Christine O’Reilly is one of seven Chicago-area leaders being honored as a "Smart Cookie" next month by the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

O'Reilly is senior director of community relations for the Chicago White Sox and the executive director of the Chicago White Sox Charities.

She and six others will be honored during the annual “Smart Cookies Make a Difference” fundraising breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St., Chicago.

The “Smart Cookies Make a Difference” awards program applauds the accomplishments of leaders who have made the world a better place, the Girl Scouts said in a news release. Through their actions and achievements, the "Smart Cookies" have "changed the rules of the game for girls who aspire to be business and entrepreneurial leaders themselves."
