CICERO – Eight varsity returners will make up the nucleus of an experienced Morton girls volleyball squad this fall.

The veteran lineup got off to a good start to the season with a 25-7, 29-27 win at Elmwood Park in the opening match Aug. 26, but lost to Argo the next night. Morton returns to the court on Sept. 5 at Fenton and opens conference play Sept. 10 against Addison Trail.

Last season the Mustangs were a No. 13 seed and lost in a regional semifinal to Oak Lawn.

Senior Nelsi Tino is an all-conference returner from that squad. Adriana Rocha was academic all-conference last year.

Coach Jeanine Yepez is in her eighth year at the helm of the varsity girls program. The Mustangs will be looking for their first regional title since 2004.
