State Rep. Durkin, of Western Springs, named House Minority Leader

WESTERN SPRINGS – State Rep. Jim Durkin, of Western Springs, was voted the new House Minority Leader Aug. 29.

Durkin, whose position includes leading the Republican party and agenda in the Illinois House, was challenged by State Rep. Raymond Poe, R-Springfield, who pulled out as a contender at the end of the race. 

Durkin replaces former House Minority Leader Tom Cross, R-Oswego, who resigned his position after announcing that he is thinking about running for Illinois treasurer.
