District 113A celebrating new year with fiesta

LEMONT – The School District 113A Foundation will host the second annual Back to School Fiesta from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, next to the Front Street Cantina, 319 Front St., Lemont.

Organizers decided to hold the event later this year so students and teachers would have a chance to get to know each other first, according to a press release from the foundation.

The Fiesta features a kid-friendly Mexican buffet and a sundae bar; live music; games, including bags tournaments for students and adults and raffles with prizes such as movie nights, picnic lunches, extra recess, rides to school in a police car or fire truck and original art donated by Principal Cathy Slee.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students. They are available at district schools or online at sd113afoundation.org. All profits from the event will fund grants for district teachers and staff.
