70-year-old arrested after allegedly punching 68-year-old at Downers Grove car show

DOWNERS GROVE – A 70-year-old Willowbrook man was charged with battery after allegedly punching a 68-year-old man in the mouth hard enough to knock loose dental work Tuesday at a Downers Grove car show.

Police said Victor R. Conforti, 70, 260 W. 80th St., Willowbrook, allegedly confronted the victim at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at a car show in the 1200 block of 75th Street in Downers Grove.

Conforti allegedly approached the man before the two exchanged insults and then Conforti punched the man in the mouth, witnesses told police.

Conforti fell over from the momentum of his own punch, and the victim jumped on top but was pulled off by bystanders before he could strike back, police said.

The punch allegedly damaged a dental bridge and knocked loose a tooth in addition to cutting the man's lip, according to police.

The alleged victim said he had problems with Conforti at other car shows for a "couple years" because of a past incident.
