LISLE – Benet Academy's second annual 5K for the Drive run/walk to benefit the school's annual Christmas Drive will step off Sunday morning.

The Christmas Drive has been a Benet Academy tradition that dates back more than 25 years. The drive has evolved into a two-week fundraising event in which students and teachers collaborate to raise money to buy both toys and food for local families in need and also contribute to various charities and service organizations.

Registration is open to both members of the Benet community and those of the western suburbs. Online registration closed Friday.

For a $30 entry fee, participants can come out to run or walk on the campuses of Benet Academy and Benedictine University. The fee includes a T-shirt, timing chip, food and refreshments following the race.

Those interested in donating to the Christmas Drive or finding out more information on the 5K or the drive can visit www.benet.org.
