Published: Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 10:59 p.m. CDT

ADDISON – In an effort to raise awareness about heroin use in the west suburbs, DuPage County Coalition Against Heroin is sponsoring an education campaign contest for students.

The heroin prevention contest, "Be a Hero-In DuPage," gives students the opportunity to design creative and effective outreach materials to raise awareness about the dangers of heroin use.

Submissions must be educational material about the dangers of heroin and can be a 30- to 60-second audio or video clip, a print advertisement, poster, billboard or mobile app. All submissions will become the property of DuPage County and may be published throughout the area.

Submissions can be emailed to studentcontest@dupage.k12.il.us by Thursday. For more information visit www.dupage88.net.

Contest winners will be recognized at a ceremony on Jan. 23.
