LEMONT – Students, parents and alumnae of Mount Assisi Academy will gather for a candlelight vigil at 7:15 p.m. Monday in front of the school, 13860 Main St., Lemont.

According to a news release distributed by event organizers, the group will try to convince school leaders to reconsider their decision to close the academy at the end of the school year.

The all-girls Catholic high school announced the closing last week, citing decreasing enrollment and an increasing budget deficit.
