ELMHURST – Elmhurst College head football coach Joe Adam has announced his resignation to accept an assistant coaching job at Syracuse.

Adam becomes the second straight Elmhurst head coach to leave for Syracuse after Tim Lester departed following the 2012 season. Both Adam and Lester previously worked with Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer at Western Michigan University.

“This is a bittersweet moment for me,” Adam said. “I have put a tremendous amount of effort into my time at Elmhurst and I am thrilled about the growth the program endured over the past seven years, but I am excited for the new opportunity.”

Adam led Elmhurst to a 4-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the CCIW in his only season as the Bluejays’ head coach. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
