Cubs Scouts from Darien are interviewed by reporter Mari Grigaliunas during their visit to the Suburban Life Media newsroom Friday in Downers Grove.

DARIEN – Cub Scout Pack 48 Den 1 from Darien visited the Suburban Life media newsroom Friday afternoon to learn about how a newspaper is put together.

The Scouts, who attend Elizabeth Ide School in Darien, made the field trip to the newspaper office, located at 1101 W. 31st St. in Downers Grove. The group learned how news stories are researched and written, and also how the stories are put together to form an edition of the newspaper.

The Scouts really enjoyed making cars for their Pinewood Derby.

"I won by a nose," Sean Noller, 6, said.

They are also working on earning beads for their Tiger badge by doing activities like hiking and visiting the fire department.
