Why Farley was selected:

One of just a few returning varsity players, Farley stepped up in a leadership role for the Trojans this season.

On a team that had several sophomores in the rotation, junior Myles Farley was one of the most experienced players for Downers Grove North’s boys basketball team this season. Even though he had to deal with an injury that sidelined him for a handful of games this season, Farley managed to average nearly 10 points per game on the year. The 6-foot guard, the Sears Hardware and Appliance Athlete of the Week, spoke with Suburban Life sports editor Jason Rossi about his season on the basketball court and how he helped groom North’s younger players for future success.

What are your thoughts on this season?

This season went pretty all right. We had our ups and downs, but by the end I think we were getting better.

In what ways did you try to lead some of the younger players on the team?

I think I was more of a leader by example on the court and the way I played. I think David Edwards was more the vocal leader.

How did the younger guys develop this season?

I think it became more natural for them because the varsity game is so physical. They are very talented and pretty strong, but I think it became more natural for them as far as how to play at the varsity level.

Where did you improve most this season?

I think my ball handling improved. From this time last yer to this year, I think I was able to see the game better and pass the ball better.
