The House Ethics Committee released a statement today announcing the committee would be reviewing the conduct of Illinois' 4th District U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Chicago.
Gutierrez's district includes parts of Cicero, Berwyn, Lyons and Brookfield.
According to the statement, the committee began its review after it was referred the matter by the Office of Congressional Ethics Dec. 4. No information was provided as to the subject or circumstances of its review.
The statement said it would release information on the committee's course of action by May 4 and added that the announcement and referral "does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee."
A statement from Gutierrez was not immediately available.
