HINSDALE – The Lane School Parent Teacher Organization hosted its second annual science olympiad "Fun Night" on March 6. Nearly 300 participants attended the event, including students from kindergarten through fifth grade, parents and staff.

Students were grouped in teams of three or four, led by parent volunteers and rotated through a series of three, 30-minute hands-on experiments.

Students learned about the scientific method through experiments and activities such as playing nature detectives, studying leaves and seeds, understanding the physics of sports, constructing marshmallow towers, building bridges and making "squishy" circuits using play-dough, according to a news release from District 181.

Students will create their own similar experiences at The Lane School's science fair on April 9, according to the release.
