Longtime YMCA board member Bob Butler passed away March 6.

LA GRANGE PARK – The Greater La Grange YMCA is asking for donations to be made to the Bob Butler Scholarship Fund at the First National Bank of La Grange, 620 W. Burlington Ave., instead of sending flowers.

Bob Butler died March 6 after battling an extended illness.

Butler was a longtime board of directors member at the Rich Port YMCA in La Grange and later with the Greater La Grange YMCA in La Grange Park. He also served, until recently, as the board's chairman.

Butler's involvement with the YMCA began in the 1980's when he originally joined the board. Since joining, Bulter held many roles throughout the years including head of the House Committee.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St. A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 North Spring Ave., La Grange.
