DOWNERS GROVE – The makers of Sharpie markers and other writing utensils, Sanford L.P., has signed a lease to occupy a 55,874-square-foot floor of the Esplanade II office building at 3500 Lacey Road.

Atlanta-based parent company Newell Rubbermaid Inc., will begin moving the Sanford employees from its current Oak Brook office to the new space this June, Newell Rubbermaid spokesperson Hannah Van Malssen said.

Esplanade II was left mostly vacant when Sara Lee moved its world headquarters to Chicago in 2012, but more than half the space has been slowly filled by several other companies.
