ADDISON – Addison Trail High School sophomore Selena Velasco (from left), sophomore Zyrena Santos and senior Lucas Garrett enjoy a snack after donating blood during a school-wide blood drive March 20 for LifeSource.

LifeSource is responsible for donor recruitment, blood collection, component manufacturing, testing and product management in the Chicago region, according to the organization's website.

The organization must see 1,000 donors each day to ensure an adequate blood supply for area hospital patients, the website states.
