Dopart, long ball help Glenbard North top Benet

Published: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 8:59 p.m. CDT

LISLE - Behind the 13 strikeout performance of Cece Dopart and the back-to-back homers by Sarah Petzold and Lauren Gramann, Glenbard North knocked off highly-ranked Benet 6-2 on Tuesday.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 3-2 on the young season.

Petzold's two-run homer in the top of the seventh increased the visitors' lead to 5-2 and was followed by a blast off the scoreboard from Gramann.

That run support was more than enough for Dopart, who overcame yielding two runs in the opening frame to shut down the potent bats of the Redwings.

Gramann also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly while Kayla Quanstrom drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth frame with a single that knocked in Steph Campos.
