Cinco de Mayo fiesta coming to Berwyn May 5

Berwyn celebrates Cinco de Mayo on May 5 with festival.

BERWYN – The city of Berwyn is planning to celebrate Mexican culture from 5:30 to 8 p.m., for Cinco de Mayo – May 5.

Cermak Road will come alive May 5 with live entertainment on Berwyn’s “main street,” on the south side of Cermak Road between East Avenue and Scoville Avenue. Admission is free.

Activities include face painting, mariachi and folkloric dancers from Pulse Dance Studio and Peggy Rose Academy of Dance.

The first 100 people who say “Buy Berwyn” at Paleteria La Michoacana Tradicional will receive a free paleta ice pop.

The event will also feature vendors, including food and cocktails from La Lupita Restaurant and Tapas Quezada, and novelties from Vesecky’s Bakery, Pierre’s Bakery and Old Fashioned Candies.

Attendees can pick up a free Cermak Road Coupon Book valued at more than $150. They also will have the opportunity to win in the event’s drawings for a Mother’s Day bouquet from V&A Flowers & Gifts, or a prom dress from Revive Boutique.

The event will include exhibitors from Box 0101, Del Real Tax Group, Go Travel Inc., Realty of Chicago, Tinnirello Chiropractic & Family Wellness Clinic and Women’s Workout World.
