BARRINGTON – A Barrington child will be an official ambassador at the Make-A-WIsh Ball Gala May 3.

James Ensign, 10, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005. His wish was granted when he met Chicago Blackhawks players in April 2013. Now, Ensign will be representing the Make-A-Wish foundation at the gala at Soldier Field amongst special guests such as Emmy-winning comedian Seth Meyers.

The signature fundraiser will also honor Chicago's professional sports teams for their work in bringing hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions through their wish-granting efforts in conjunction with Make-A-Wish Illinois.

The annual black tie gala, to begin at 6 p.m., includes cocktails, dinner, a raffle, live and silent auctions and more. Tickets, which are $600 per person, benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois.

Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 700 wishes to children in the state this year. The state chapter began in 1985 and has granted more than 11,000 wishes to date.
