ELMHURST – A group of four teenage girls were offered a ride by an unknown man last week while they were walking home from Bryan Middle School.

Police responded to a suspicious person report at 3:40 p.m. April 17 in the 900 block of South York Street.

A man described as Hispanic, with straight black medium-length thinning hair, a mustache and possibly 40 years old, asked the girls if they wanted a ride while they were near the Redbox at Jewel, 944 S. York St, according to a police report.

When the girls asked him what he'd said, he again offered them a ride. The girls ignored him and walked to Sydney Nail Spa and called a parent to pick them up, stated the report.

The girls told police the man drove eastbound on Butterfield Road from York Street in an older, rusty, white, four-door car, stated the report.
