Butler Junior High selects new principal

OAK BROOK – The Butler District 53 Board of Education appointed Amy Read as the new principal of Butler Junior High School Thursday. Read will succeed Stephanie Palmer, who was appointed principal of District 86 Hinsdale South High School earlier this year.

Chosen from a pool of 70 candidates, Read is an experienced principal, having served in the leadership position in junior highs in Schaumburg District 54 and most recently in Elmhurst District 205, according to a news release from District 53.

Read is a child-centered educator, known for her collaboration and communication with staff and parents, and her knowledge and leadership in curriculum and instruction, according to the release.

She has a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/engineering from Bradley University, a masters in teaching from Simmons College and a masters in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.
