LA GRANGE – More than 1,500 comic books were passed out during the Free Comic Book Day this past Saturday at Chimera's Comics.

The shop, located at 19 S. La Grange Road, welcomed about 400 guests in total, with crowds flowing in and out all day, according to co-owner Steven Brown. Brown said this year's turn out was the best they've ever had.

Along with giving away comic books – three per customer – the festivities also included face painting and appearances from The Joker and Cat Woman.
