Warrenville employees launch Casual Friday for a Cause

Published: Monday, June 9, 2014 1:22 p.m. CDT

WARRENVILLE – In order to continue their dedication to service, city of Warrenville employees will participate in a Casual Friday for a Cause program.

As part of the program, employees will dress in jeans or a sports T-shirt or jersey on a designated Friday in exchange for donating $1 to a specific charity.

The new program is "an opportunity for employees to give back to Warrenville and create employee fellowship," a city news release stated.

Casual Friday for a Cause will take place on the last Friday of each quarter.

Charities are suggested by employees. They must be a registered nonprofit organization and connected to the Warrenville community.

In the past, city employees have participated in other service projects as part of the employee mission statement that requires staff to be "dedicated to nurturing a strong sense of community."

In December 2013, they fundraised more than $700 and donated several bags of clothing, toys and food to the Warrenville community through the Christmas Sharing program. Employees also helped to clean the portion of the Illinois Prairie Path that runs through Warrenville this April.
