Thimothy E. Levis, of Elgin, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault by Woodstock Police.

WOODSTOCK – Bond was increased Friday for an Elgin man accused of raping a woman at a Woodstock motel, and who prosecutors also said had harassed female jailers.

Timothy E. Levis, 54, was taken into custody earlier this week after a judge remanded him for picking up new charges in Winnebago County while out on bond.

Friday morning, Levis appeared again before McHenry County Judge Prather, who increased his bond to $300,000.

Levis is charged with criminal sexual abuse by force for an April incident, in which his accuser, a 25-year-old woman, said he raped her at the Super 8 motel. The non-probational Class 1 felony is punishable by four to 15 years in prison.

He later posted bond, and was re-arrested Tuesday in Winnebago County on trespassing and disorderly conduct charges, prosecutors said.

Levis was remanded Wednesday after showing up late to a court date, and told the judge he was stranded in Elgin with no way to get to court on time.

"I'm not remanding you, sir, because you were late to court, I'm remanding you because you got re-arrested," Prather said Wednesday.

When asking for a higher bond amount, Assistant State's Attorney Robert Zalud on Friday said that Levis has harassed female jail guards, asking them for oral sex.

The prosecutor called Levis "violent and aggressive."

Speaking to the judge, Levis said there were no facts to support the allegation, and called his defense attorney "unprepared."

Levis' next court date is June 30.
