Dan Leahy will begin his new job as Elmhurst's communications/marketing manager July 7.

ELMHURST – After city staff spent months sifting through 170 applicants for Elmhurst's newly created communications/marketing manager position, the new hire will start July 7.

Dan Leahy will leave his position as the Bolingbrook Park District marketing and communications manager, where he's been since 2008, according to Elmhurst Assistant City Manager Mike Kopp.

In Elmhurst, Leahy will lead communications and marketing initiatives for the city, including community relations, strategic communications, branding, public relations and related activities. He will oversee all tools related to these efforts, including the city’s website, social media, newsletter and emerging technologies, stated a city news release.

Prior to serving the Bolingbrook Park District, Leahy led a series of formative assessment products as senior editor for Riverside Publishing in Itasca, and was editor-in-chief for a monthly consumer magazine at Ziff-Davis Media in Oak Brook, the release stated.

Leahy holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He lives in Bolingbrook with his wife, Marianne, and two children, Camden, 16, and Tyler, 15, stated the release.
