Letter: Remembering a man who loved Addison

Published: Monday, June 16, 2014 12:12 p.m. CDT

To the Editor:

The family of William J. “Bill” Bryers would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Addison paramedics who responded to the emergency call just after midnight on May 9 and the staff at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. The care and compassion shown by you that night and the next day did not go unnoticed.

While we lost Bill that day, we are grateful that his last few hours were peaceful, and that he felt secure in your care, with no fear. The death of this wonderful, generous man – the leader of our family – has been felt, not only by us, but by his community.

Bill loved Addison. He loved volunteering for Meals on Wheels, both as a driver and in the kitchen. He loved going to the VFW ceremonies on Memorial Day. He loved going to Mass at St. Philip’s. He loved Addison.

Thank you to all of our family, friends and neighbors for extending your condolences and sharing your stories of Bill with us. We all knew how special he was and the joy he brought to our daily lives. It is comforting to us to see that he had that effect on everyone who encountered him.
