Sixteen-month-old Jace Szklanecki plays with a toy truck as his parents, Robert and Nicole, look on June 11 inside the family's Lombard home. Jace, who received a heart transplant in February, returned home June 6.

THUMBS UP: Welcome home, Jace. The 16-month-old Lombard boy enjoyed a well-deserved homecoming June 6, months after receiving a heart transplant. Born with a rare congenital heart defect, Jace was making steady progress before suffering a stroke in late January. A few days later, a heart became available and the surgery was successful. His dad, Robert Szklanecki, may have said it best: "He's the strongest person I know."

THUMBS DOWN: Scary moment for movie-goers at AMC Yorktown 17 on June 7 when fireworks illegally set off nearby apparently incited panic inside one of the theaters, prompting some patrons to exit the building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
