Published: Tuesday, July 1, 2014 4:40 p.m. CDT

WEST CHICAGO – The city of West Chicago invites members of the public to nominate local businesses for its Brilliance in Business Awards program.

The program was established several years ago to honor West Chicago businesses in the following categories: Small Business of the Year, Green Initiatives, Community Service, Economic Development and Community Image.

Winning businesses are recognized at a City Council meeting, and they are featured in the city's publications and on its website.

Last year's winners included FreshGround Roasting for Small Business of the Year, USAgain for Green Initiatives, State Bank of Illinois for Community Service, El Coco Loco Mexican Grill for Economic Development and Cascade Drive-in for Community Image.

Program guidelines and applications can be found on the city website, www.westchicago.org, by clicking on the Business tab. The nominations may be submitted online or downloaded, printed and mailed to the city.

The nomination deadline is Sept. 5. Businesses are welcome to nominate themselves.
