JOLIET – Two men were shot Sunday in the 400 block of South Joliet Street.

At 5:30 p.m. the victims, both 28-year-old men, were sitting on a porch when they were struck by bullets. The victims told police they did not see where the shots came from or whether their assailants were on foot or in a vehicle, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

“Officers responded to a call of shots fired and arrived to find one man lying face down with a gunshot wound to his chest. The other had a wound to his left ankle,” Roechner said.

Both victims were conscious and responsive before being taken to the hospital where they were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, Roechner said.
