Elite track and field throwers coming to Benedictine University

LISLE – Olympic gold medal-winning discus thrower Stephanie Brown-Trafton, who was the event winner at he 2008 Olympics in Beijing, will be part of a group of elite athletes competing at the Chicagoland Throwers Series final at 11 a.m. Saturday at Benedictine University. The event is free and open to the public.

The event, organized by Tom Pukstys, an assistant track and field coach for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team,  will include all throwing disciplines, including javelin, discus, hammer throw and shot put.

In addition to Brown-Trafton, the event will feature elite throwers like Amanda Bingson, who competed in hammer throw at the 2012 Olympics, Kibwe Johnson and Chris Cralle. Johnson and Cralle finished first and third, respectively, in the hammer throw at the USA Track and Field Nationals in late June.
