Wheaton students named as National Merit scholarship winners

WHEATON – A number of local students recently received National Merit scholarships, according to a news release from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Emily Erickson and Peter Kania of Wheaton Warrenville South; Kevin Fausett and Madeliene Storm of Wheaton North; and Daniel Weithers of Benet Academy were among 1,600 winners announced July 14. They join about 2,500 recipients named in May.

Awards of $500 to $2,000 annually were granted based on SAT scores and application.
