Letter: Leaked email by College of DuPage president a disgrace

Published: Friday, July 18, 2014 3:13 p.m. CDT

To the editor:

The email from COD President Robert Breuder published last week is a disgrace to the college and its management. The contents of his email concerning the possible deceptions in the application for and ultimate use of $20 million in state funds, and his statements that followed, show a level of dishonesty and willingness to go outside any accepted practices of due process and accountability that are simply not acceptable.

We believe that something must finally be done by the COD trustees to respond to President Breuder’s cavalier and arrogant attitude to the College of DuPage as an institution, and to the staff, the students and the community that supports it.

That Breuder feels he can interact with the Board of Trustees and involve them in his duplicity in this manner is shocking; the board have to take action for this blatant mismanagement of the COD community or they show a complete abdication of their responsibility. COD has been a shining example of a local community college, a source of pride to the citizens of DuPage County on whose taxes it depends.

The reputation of COD is being shattered by the irresponsible action of one person and the continued inaction of the people charged with its welfare. Now is the time to try and regain their shredded credibility, to censure the president, and to start the process of finding a replacement.

Sincerely,

Ruth and Stephen Pordes

Glen Ellyn
