WESTMONT – The Westmont Public Library End of Summer Carnival is returning Saturday for a fifth consecutive year.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the library parking lot, staff will host the free carnival featuring more games, activities and food compared to previous years, according to Marketing Coordinator Kate Buckson, who expects at least 200 residents to attend the carnival.

“This event has grown every year we have done it,” Buckson said. “We hope it continues to grow – we want families and residents to come out and realize all the wonderful things the Westmont Public Library has to offer.”

New to this year’s carnival are pony rides, snow cones from the library’s new shaved ice machine and free pizza donated by Nancy’s Pizza. Returning attractions include a large inflatable obstacle course, carnival games and activities and karate lessons by True Balance Karate.

The End of the Summer Carnival also marks the end of the library’s summer reading program, and program participants are encouraged to attend the event and receive their prizes, Buckson said.

“We pride ourselves on being an extension of children’s education, especially during the summer when school is not in session,” she said. “We offer fun and educational events for adults, as well. We preach lifelong learning, so we want to offer learning opportunities for people of all ages.”
