BERWYN – Police are investigating a rollover crash involving one vehicle that left a 20-year-old Cicero man dead and his passenger seriously injured in the 1500 block of Harlem Avenue at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Berwyn police said the vehicle was traveling north on Harlem Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and knock down a light pole near the Berwyn/North Riverside VFW Post 2378, at 1529 Harlem Ave.

Emergency personnel needed to extricate the driver from the crushed vehicle. He was taken to and pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center. The driver had turned 20 on Aug. 19. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

The passenger, who also remains unidentified, was taken to an area hospital, police said.

Police said drugs or alcohol are not suspected as a cause for the crash at this time and police are waiting for the results of an autopsy report.

An investigation continues.
